Brothers:
A short note. We had a very successful Founders Day. While the attendance was not huge, it was very active and involved in the business meetings and social gatherings. A special thanks to the Active Chapter Noble Ruler Skylar Paul and the whole active Chapter for its hospitality. Also another Special thanks to our advisors Dr Todd Winters and Dr Gary Minish. Jake and Carolyn Rendleman, thank you for the social gathering at the Shed and sharing your vintage tractor collection with us. And another special note, Carolyn Rendleman organized an AGR Wives Lunch which met at a new restaurant, Legends at Walker Bluffs winery just 5 or 6 miles north of the Holiday Inn on Reed Road. Thank you, Carolyn. I did check out the place out later and it is a great restaurant that goes along with Bogey’s as one of two places to go for great food on any Carbondale weekend visit.
Jake Rendleman is to be congratulated as being named the Outstanding AG Alumnus of SIU at the All AG Banquet Friday night. His contributions to Southern Illinois and the Junior College System were highlighted. Also at the All AG Banquet was a Special Gift from Beta Alpha AGR Alums on behalf of all AG alumni given to retiring Dean, Dr Gary Minish. It was a framed archival print of “The Parade of Champions, 1947 International Livestock Show”. Most of you know that Dr Minish has been actively involved in the livestock industry, especially cattle. Over the years he showed Champions at the International Livestock show and later judged a number of shows at that event. In fact, in looking through his bio one finds that he has judged over 60 major shows around the world, including Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Scotland, Australia, as well as many major US shows. SIU will miss him, hopefully we can keep he and Roberta in the area part time in the coming years.
